Verna passed away on March 9, 2010 in her daughter's home in Murray, UT. She was born on March 7, 1928 in Oakley, UT, to Elef John Franson and Bethia Blanche Maxwell. She was the youngest and only girl of her family.
Verna grew up in Oakley, UT, and graduated from South Summit High School then attended BYU. Married James Robson Fletcher in the Salt Lake Temple. Spent a short time in Fayetteville, AR while her husband completed his Master's Degree at the University of Arkansas. Her greatest accomplishment was being the mother of eight children.

She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in various callings including extraction worker, temple nursery worker, Sunbeam teacher, and visiting teacher. She loved working with little children, quilting and participating in the Union Camp of the DUP. She had a green thumb and could grow almost anything. She valued education and encouraged all of her children to attend college.
