SHELBY - Mr. Lawrence Pinkney McSwain, 94, of 444 Community Road, died Friday, March 12, 2010 at Hospice at Wendover.
A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late George G. and Tillie Webb McSwain. Mr. McSwain was a member of Davidson Memorial Baptist Church. He served in the US Army and enjoyed Fishing, Singing, and Woodworking.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, four sisters, Mamie Lee Etta McSwain Hembree, Beaufy McSwain Puckett, Alda McSawin Patterson Fisher, and Novella McSwain Smart; and four brothers, Henderson, Odis, Arlon, and Frank McSwain.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen Black Mcswain of the Home, two daughters Peggy McSwain Peace and husband Mitchel, and Gail McSwain Poston and husband Roger, all of Shelby, four grandchildren, Tabitha Peace, Rodney Poston, Gerry Poston, and Janet Poston Hamrick; three great grandchildren; and two adopted great grandchildren.

Visitation: The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home
