Mary Malinda Doyle Barnard and James Dallas Barnard married March 21, 1869 in Mound City, Kansas and had eight children:

and one son Elmer Jay
James Dallas Barnard brought his family to Oklahoma in 1892 by wagon train six in all with the families of Will Long, Lloyd Long, and John Chamberlin, numbering 24 members, plus several hound dogs. .
They reached Chandler and went on south, then west to Bell Cow creek and made camp.
During that first year, they lived on the Pete Lansing place, camping in tents.
James Dallas and Clarence Long ran a wagon freight line of two teams from Chandler to Guthrie.
