Ruth was the daughter of Alexander Goldman and Bella Rubin. She married Harold Robert "Harry" Epstein in abt 1938. They had the following daughters:

Ruth was a bookkeeper and women's and children's buyer for the Epstein Department Store. Ruth was fluent in French which helped with the French Canadian customers. Ruth was very involved with the Congregation Beth Israel Synagogue and was a past president of the Sisterhood, and Opera New England. She was also a Brownie troop leader and then a Girl Scout leader while her daughters were growing up. Ruth promoted the arts throughout Maine and for her efforts she received a Founder's Award for promoting the quality of the arts in Maine.
