In 1891 the family returned to Logan where he helped on his father's farm until the fall of 1893, when he was married to Rosena Munk, November 2. On this same day his brothers Frank and Wilford and his sister Loretta were married in the Logan temple.
To the union of Wilbur and Rosena were born the following children: Clyde, who lives in California; Wilda Freestone, Burley; Gerald, who died 1938; Florence McBirney, Idaho Falls; Leah Fuller, Murtaugh; Claire Stringfield, Caldwell; Dean, Oakley; Ariel, California; Myrtle, died one month later than Gerald; June, who died in childhood; Kenneth, who lives in California.
In 1894 in company with an older brother he moved back to Star Valley, making his home in Smoot, Wyoming. This was a new country and he helped pioneer it.
He was active in community affairs. He served as superintendent of Sunday School for six years and was called on a mission to the southern states. Leaving his wife and five children he labored almost two years and returned home because of ill health.
He engaged in ranching. He was again made Sunday school superintendent, serving until 1909, when he moved to Idaho, purchasing the Charles Wahlstrom farm. The remainder of his life was spent here. As in his former places of residence he became active in civic and church matters. He was called to be superintendent of the Island Sunday school and served as trustee of school in Island district for many years. He served on the Cassia stake high council. He was also mail carrier to the Churchill people for a long time.
His wife Rosena died in 1919. He was called to be bishop of Marion ward and set apart by Elder Joseph Fielding Smith October 31, 1920. He served in this capacity until 1926. In February, 1923 he was married to Louisa Tolman who survives him.
To the end of his life he never ceased to take interest in community affairs, both political and religious.
His health began to fail about five years ago and for the past two years he has been almost bedfast. His death came quietly Monday evening, August 21, at 7:00 o'clock.
Funeral services, in charge of Bishop Martin W Cranney of Marion ward, will be held in the LDS tabernacle Friday afternoon, August 25.
