Amaziah Richmond died at the home of his son, George H. Richmond, Newark, Kendall County, Illinois, Monday night, Nov. 4, 1889, after a short illness (age 84 years, 11 months and 20 days). He was born in New Braintree, Worcester County, Massachusetts, Nov. 14, 1804, and was married to Caroline Harris Rogers, in Westmoreland, Oneida County, New York, January 2, 1827; she having preceded him to the better world, February 11, 1873 (age 68 years.) He married for his second wife, Mrs. Diana B. Chapin, she also having died in 1883.

Eleven children blessed his first union, all of whom are living, with the exception of one daughter, and nine of were present to pay the last sad respects to a loved and faithful father.

John Hamilton Richmond, Marseilles, Illinois.
Mrs. Martha E. Lawrence, widow of Warren Lawrence, Marseilles, IL;
Johnathan S. Richmond, Big Grove, IL;
Mrs. Adeline E. Pease, widow of Randall Pease, Pierson, Iowa;
William H. Richmond, Marseilles, IL;
Mrs. Julia Mallory, Lisbon, IL; Mrs. Mary E. Wright (deceased);
George H.Richmond, Newark, IL.

He also had 64 grandchildren, 39 of whom are living; 25 great grandchildren, 20 living, and 3 great great grandchildren, 2 still living.

The funeral was held at the M.E. church on Wednesday, Nov. 6, his pastor Rev. C.C. Sink conducting services, who discourse was the most excellent and appropriate from the words of Matthew XXV:23.
