Fred Prueter, 77, 428 Chicago Street, Kiel died suddenly Tuesday evening while walking near his home. He was born August 14, 1888 in the town of Schleswig, a son of the late Herman and Mary Staffler Prueter. He attended district schools at Rockville. He married Hilda Hahn of Town Schleswig January 18, 1917. They operated a farm in Schleswig until they moved to Kiel in 1945. His wife preceded him in death in May 1962.
Mr. Prueter was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ at Kiel. He was a member of the Churchmen’s Brotherhood. He was president and superintendent of the Schleswig Cemetery Association and former agent of Town Meeme Mutual Fire Insurance Company.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Otto Hildebrandt, Kiel, two brothers, Arthur, Green Bay and Hugo, Anaheim, California.
Funeral services will be held Friday at St. Peter’s United church of Christ with Rev. Vernon Jaberg officiating. Burial will be in the Schleswig cemetery.
