Scales Mound, Ill., Jan. 2- James Addison Adams, a veteran of the Civil war, died yesterday at the age of 87. He was born April 12, 1842, at West Millgrove, Ohio, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Adams.
Going to Apple River, Ill., in 1860 Mr. Adams was drafted into the army, and served throughout, receiving his honorable discharge. After he left the army, he started farming later taking up carpentry work. IN 1877 he moved to Scales Mound, and married Miss Diana Allan. One child, a daughter that died in infancy, was born to them. His wife died two years later.
On Dec. 12, 1887, Mr. Adams was married to Miss Julia Vaughn, and the couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last year.
Mr. Adams is survived by the following children: Fred, Mrs. Flora Speer of Apple River, James Addison Adams of Aurora, Mrs. Elizabeth White of Scales Mound, Mrs. Winnifred Selp of Ft. Dodge, Ia., and Warren of Denver. One sister, Mrs. W. Rosendale of Fostoria, O., also survives.
