Bio for Diarca Allen:
Born in Mansfield, CT in 1761. Son of Phineas Allen, who settled in Duxbury, CT, and Alice Cady Allen. At the age of 16, Diarca enlisted in the army of the Revolution and served 3 years. He was with the army at Valley Forge and shared in their sickness and want. He was present at the battle of Monmouth and was one of the company sent out by General Washington to commence battle while he should bring up the main army. He fought at Valley Forge and Monmouth along with his brothers Phineas Allen II and Asher or Ashur Allen. Another brother, Cady Allen fought briefly in the War but returned home early on due to sickness, and did not fight in those battles. He was discharged in April 1780 and soon after came to Lebanon, NH. He purchased 100 acres of land; and after 8 years of the labors of clearing the land and erecting his log house, he returned to CT and married Rebecca Howe on 2.6.1788. He and Rebecca returned to his land and home in Lebanon where they had a family of 11 children (nine reached the age of maturity). Rebecca died in 1820; and Diarca remarried Mrs. Nancy Bruce. Diarca Allen served several terms as a selectman; was a state senator 1825-26; and served in various town offices.
