Herbert Wayne "Herb" Belt, of Ardmore, Ok, was born Septmeber 11, 1950, in McAlester, OK to the late Herbert Joseph and Mary Lee McBee Belt. He died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at his residence at the age of 59 years, 5 months and 28 days.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the First Baptist Church in Ardmore with Dr. Robert Lee Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Provence Cemetery. Family will receive friends Friday, from 6 to 7 PM at the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home, 2118 South Commerce, Ardmore, OK.

Herb had been a resident of the Dickson area most of his life and was a graduate of Dickson High School in 1969.

He married the former Linda Cothran on July 14, 1969 in Ardmore, Ok.

Herb was retired from the Valero Refinery in Ardmore, where he had worked for 31 yrears. He was a code welder, and also worked as a safety officer, paramedic, EMT, and was a member of the Fire Brigade. They knew him at the refinery as "Safety Herb". His desire to help others also led him to be a part of the Dickson Volenteer Fire Department and First Responders, where he stayed active doing what he loved to do the best. Herb was the Assistant Chief and Safety Director for the Dickson Fire Department and had attended numerous fire schools through the years to keep him on the forefront of his career.

He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church and was an avid hunter.

Herb is survived by his loving wife Linda of the home; son Creig Belt and wife Danieal of Ardmore; grandson Kasen Belt of Ardmore; twin sisters, Sheryl Carpenter and husband Jerry of Ardmore, Carol Bean of Dickson; special sister in law, Thelma Ruth Holley of Dickson, special niece, Kim Ritchey-Ley of Edmond; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great hephews and cousins.

Herb was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory Belt, a daughter, Tisha Belt; and his grandparents, Roy and Ruby McBee.

Casket bearers will be Jerry Carpenter, Jerrod Carpenter, Joby Carpenter, Kevin Kendrick, Kelly Kendrick and Blake Teague.

Honarary casket bearers will be members of the Dickson Volunteer Fire Department and the First Responders, and employees of the Ardmore Valero Refinery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dickson Fire Department, 35 Eastgate Loop, Ardmore, OK 73401
