Organized at Indianapolis and Camp Emerson and mustered in August 30, 1862. Grand Review May 24. Mustered out June 9, 1865.

Jesse W. Mayfield, aged 84, a lifelong resident of this City, died at midnight at his home on East Sixth Street. Death came after a long illness with a complication of diseases. Mr. Mayfield was one of the best-known residents of the City, having been born and reared here. He with Capt. Fields started the first horse cabs in Bloomington and was in the cab business for a number of years. He was the last one of his family. The widow survives. He was a member of the First Christian Church, and the Odd Fellows Lodge and was a Civil War veteran and member of the local post of the G. A. R. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Christian Church in charge of Rev. W. E. Moore. Interment will be in Rosehill, where the Odd Fellows will have charge. Funeral services for Jesse W. Mayfield will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the First Christian Church in charge of Rev. W. E, Moore. Active pallbearers will be Ralph Curry, Dennis Isom, Ernest Prince, Edward Eckels, C T. Edmondson and J. M. Sappenfield. Honorary pallbearers will be Judge Ira C Batman, Karl Sutherland, Harry Rett, Stacy Harrell, Dr. F. H. Batman, William M. Smith, Horace Blakely and Charles Thompson. Interment will be in Rosehill.
