Ben F. Combs, 77, resident of Wittensville, died at a local hospital at 12:05 p.m., Thursday, February 22, after a brief illness. The son of William and Arminta Witten Combs,he was born at Wittensville, September 28,1885, and had been a lifelong resident of that community. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a retired merchant and former postmaster of Wittensville. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mae Rice Combs, whom he married in this city October 1913: four sons, Clyde Combs, Columbus, Ohio;Doris Combs, Detroit, Michigan; George Combs, Wittensville; MorrisCombs, Dayton, Ohio; six daughters, Mrs. Hazel Witten And Mrs. Zora Conley both of Wittensville; Mrs. Pansy Witten and Juanita Weaver, both of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Bonnie Castle, Detroit,Michigan; Mrs. Joy Roach, Huntington, W. Va.; Also surviving are twenty grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Church at Wittensville, at 2:00 p.m., with the Reverend Robert Hart as officiating minister. Pallbearers were Bill Vanhoose, Bob Vanhoose, Alois Rice, Edsel Rice, Willard Rice and Doug Vanhoose.
Burial was in the Combs Cemetery at Wittensville.
