Donnie L. Alexander, 71, of Greencastle passed away Monday, March 1, 2010 at Putnam County Hospital.
He was born June 16, 1938 in Hendricks County to Everett and Julia Alexander. Donnie was raised in Putnamville and attended Cloverdale and Greencastle High School.
Donnie served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Greencastle Moose Lodge #1592 and retired from DePauw University as a second shift supervisor after 49 and a half years with perfect attendance.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Louise Pettit for 51 and a half years, on August 16, 1958 by the Rev. Paul Robinson at the Church of Christ and she survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Surita Grassick and husband Gary of Greencastle, Sheri Comer and husband Bruce of Greencastle, Vicky Phillips and husband Steve of Cloverdale and Kristie Cox and husband Troy of New Market; one sister, Linda Wills of Brazil; two brothers, Harold Alexander and wife Marlene of Greencastle and Butch Alexander and wife Barbara of Greencastle; five granddaughters; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, with the Rev. Rob Brown officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
