Fairmount, Ill.- Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Carrington Funeral Home in Fairmount for Vernon Hickman, 80, of Fairmount. He died at 8:12 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 12, 1980) at his home. Death was attributed to natural causes. The Rev. Harold Simmons will officiate. Burial was Tuesday afternoon at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery east of Fairmount. Born Oct. 16, 1900, at his farm home near Fairmount, he was the son of George W. and Sadie P. Hopper Hickman. He was married Nov. 25, 1922, at Urbana to Cora Mae Cheuvront, who died March 9; 1960. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Anita Dowers of Fairmount; five sons: George E. of Elmhurst, Phil of Danville, Glen of Virginia Beach, Va., Paul of North Bend, Ore., and Kenneth of Fort Richardson, Alaska; a brother, Wayne of Catlin; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
