Son of Samuel Hawk and Sabilla Meckes.

William was a farmer, treasurer of the Little Gap Grange, and enumerator for
the Lower Towamensing school district of Carbon County. He lived at Kunkletown
R. 2, PA and was a member of the Reformed wing of St. Matthew's Church. He
never married or had children and lived on the same farm on which he had been
born.

William was killed instantly when he was struck on the head by a branch of a
falling tree which he had cut on the farm of Nathan George near Kernsville. He
was buried in St. Matthew's Church cemetery, Kunkletown. (Obit in "The Record",
