Inez's step-grandson has fond memories of the coffee she made on her woodburning stove and let him enjoy on Saturday mornings while waiting on his grandpa "Deak" to get off work at noon from his job as a night watchman for the railroad.

Inez's husband "Deak" had first married Nellie May Zirkle September 17, 1911 in Le Roy, KS, Coffey County; she died February 2, 1919. Two children were born of this union: a daughter, Madelyn Mary Bolen Stanley (Mrs. Ezra George Stanley) 1913-1994; a son, Robert "Bob" Milton Bolen 1916-1978.

He married Inez Saddler February 26, 1919 at Independence; she died in 1948; a daughter, Miss Virginia Elizabeth "Babe" Bolen 1920-1985 was born of this union.
