Mrs. W.M. Calk of the Cooper Community was called to the Great Beyohd at the home of her son, W.S. Calk on the west side of town a 9:00 a.m. Saturday after a lingering illness of several years. Mr. and Mrs Calk moved into town about three months ago with their son, W.S., and she become worse a few days ago, and gradually grew lower until the end came.

Mrs. Calk's maiden name was Lucyan Conn, and she was 71 years, 2 months and 24 days old, was born in Benton County, Ala., taken to Mississippi when an infant, moved to Arkansas in 1853, then to near Waco, Tex., in 1875 after living there five years, moved to Conn Bend, then in 1902 to Pott. County where she remained the balance of her life.

Besides a host of friends, she leaves an aged companion and three children, W.S. Calk, Mrs. T.J. Lowden and Mrs. Bob Alexander, all of Asher and two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Calk was a good Christian woman, become a member of the Missionary Baptist church in 1862.
The funeral services were conducted at the New Bethel church Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. J.B. Shirley of Hazel and the remains interred at the Vista cemetery. Relatives and friends have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
