Lester (Red) Wellman, 67, Noblesville resident and longtime employee of Indiana Bell Telephone company, died Thursday near Crown Point when his car ran into a parked semitrailer truck at a roadside rest stop along I-65.
Mr. Wellman was a lifelong county resident born June 21, 1913 at Sheridan the son of Aaron and Mae Wellman. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He was married to Faith Reagan Wellman who survives.
Retiring from Indiana Bell in 1975, he was a member of the Eagles Lodge, Telephone Pioneer, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Other survivors include a son, Dan Wellman of Indianapolis, and a daughter, Sally L. Wellman, Madison, Wisconsin. Also surviving are two sisters, Virginia Case Smith, Noblesville, and Zella Armin Trout, Muncie.
