The death of a most wonderful mother of our esteemed townsmen,
Mrs. Susan Mobley Lott, died at her home on 'Hilltop' (Plant Avenue now) in this city on Saturday and will be buried on her land (which was sold to the City of Waycross on August 27, 1889 ,4.29 acre of land for $200.00 for a Cemetery called Lott's after her husband.) Sunday afternoon(17th)..
She is the daughter of the late Solomon Mobley and Mrs. Elizabeth Byrd Mobley..
Mrs. Lott joined the M.E. Church in early life and lived a consistent Christian until her death. She was very modest in her Christian life and lived with the consciousness of the abiding Peace of God... She was very devoted to her family, their comfort and pleasure being her constant study.
Mrs. Lott was born in Appling County, Ga. in 1829.
She was happily united in marriage to Dr. Daniel Lott in January 9, 1849 in Ware County..
She leaves a family composed of four sons and two daughters, who mourn her loss, but they realize that she has gone where the weary are forever at rest.. The sympathy of the HERALD is with them in their bereavement... May the Holy Spirit abide with them and lead them to so live, that they may meet her in that clime where partings are no more...
