BOONEVILLE - Roy L. Hare, 73, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Booneville. He was a member of Zion Rest Church of Christ. He was a retired Roadway Express truck driver and a barber. He was an officer of American Legion Post 123, a board member of Northeast Mississippi Bluegrass Association, a member of Teamsters Local 667 and a former Justice Court Judge. He was a National Guard veteran of the Bay of Pigs invasion. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Tony Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Kelly Hare, whom he married June 1, 1973; a daughter, Karen M. Crawson (Mike) of Corinth; two brothers, Clyde Hare (Pat) of Horn Lake and David Hare of Blair, Neb.; two granddaughters, Jessica M. Stewart (Brandon) and Lauren M. Mathis (Shain), all of Corinth; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Mathis, MaKenzie Stewart and Landon Stewart; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Willard Miller Hare; a brother, W.R. Hare; and his stepmother, Lula Jones Hare.

Pallbearers are Bob Kelly, Keith Kelly, Greg Kelly, Joe Kelly and Michael Crawson.

Honorary pallbearers are Shain Mathis, Brandon Stewart, Jeremy Hare, Michael Hare and Jimmy Young.
