After a long and courageous battle with cancer, L.D. (Buddy) Britton went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday morning, November 22, 2008. Surrounded by family and friends that loved him dearly, Buddy passed peacefully from this life to his eternal reward.

Buddy was a member of First Baptist Church.

Buddy was born on December 29, 1949 in Tyler, Texas to Colleene Lunceford Britton and M. L. (Clark) Britton. Buddy was raised in Tyler and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. Buddy remained a committed supporter of "Rebel football" until his passing. After graduation, Buddy attended Tyler Junior College and on to Tyler State College (UT Tyler).

Buddy began his career with Otis Engineering, at which time Buddy moved to Longview. After several years in the East Texas Oil Patch, Buddy went to Delta Solvents, now Brenntag Southwest in 1987. After a very successful stint in sales, Buddy became Branch Manager a position he held with distinction until his
retirement early this year.

Buddy is survived by his wife of forty-one years Janice Hamilton Britton, one daughter Elizabeth Britton Daniel, husband Bill Daniel, and the absolute light in his eyes granddaughter Britton Caroline Daniel. Also surviving Buddy are his Mother Colleene Lunceford Britton, one sister Vicki Britton Heap, sister-in-law Donna Massey, husband Charles, niece Shannon Massey Burch, and nephews, Mark Massey and Kevin Massey.

Preceding Buddy in death grandparents Charlie and Donie Lunceford, aunts Patricia Lunceford Reid, Dorothy Lunceford Caldwell, uncles Mancle Lunceford, and his beloved uncle, Thomas Brady (Sonny) Lunceford.

Buddy was an avid outdoorsman. He spent his spare time hunting and fishing all over the Southwest. Buddy's wit, and companionship will be missed at deer camps around Texas.

The Britton family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Larry Frase and the staff of Longview Oncology for the care and kindness extended to Buddy during his illness. Thanks also, to the entire Heartsway Hospice organization, and especially to his nurse Josh Kerns, who provide loving care and support not only to Buddy but the entire family as well..

If desired, donations can be made in Buddy's memory to Heartsway Hospice and First Baptist Church of Longview.

Funeral services will be held at Twelve O'clock Noon on Tuesday November 25, 2008 at the Ford Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.
