George T. Loop died at his home on Washington street yesterday at about 11 o'clock, of pneumonia, in the 51st year of his age.
Mr. Loop was born at Hadley, Saratoga county, N.Y., February 14, 1843, and enlisted in company F of the 93d New York volunteers at the age of 19 years. He served three years under Capt. Bailey, and was honorably discharged December 17, 1863. He then re-enlisted and served until the close of the war.
At the age of 26, Mr. Loop married Miss Eva M. Kilburn of West Granville, N.Y., and afterward lived in Glens Falls, N.Y., for some nine years. He came to Rutland in 1879 and had conducted business as a hairdresser for man years.
He belonged to the Free Masons and also to the Grand Army.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
He leaves a widow and two children and a large circle of friends in this city and Glens Falls.
There will be prayers at the house tomorrow at 1 o'clock and the funeral will be held at the Methodist church at 1:30 o'clock.
Roberts post will attend the funeral in a body.
