His cause of death was by drowning when he fell off his horse while crosing a river. Robert married at age 16 in about 1882. Unsubstantiated evidence suggests his wife was a "La Rue" but her name is currently listed as unknown. Their children were:
1. Mary - b. 1789
2. Jeremiah - b. abt 1791
3. James - b. abt 1792, He was an "infant" when his uncle John Thomas was appointed his guardian in 1793. (Title: Hardin County, Kentucky, Court Orders, Book A, 1793-1804)

According to Master Index of Virginia Surveys & Grants 1774-1797 Book 465, page 94, Robert Hodgen, Jr. obtained 1000 acres of land in Jefferson Co., Va./Ky, survey date 17 Nov. 1783, KHS Vol. #19, Original Survey #5745. The Grant Date is listed as 2 Oct. 1786 Original Book Vol. 6, pages 571 & 572. to Frederick County, VA in 1775.He is listed as living in Nelson Co., Kentucky in 1787 and 1788. Reference: Residence of Nelson Co., Virginia 1785-1791, Records of Tithable and Tax Lists, Volume I, page 3, 33, 40

Midgrated to Nelson County, VA now KY in 1785.
Migrated to Hardin County, KY in 1793.
