John Slocum, s. of Eleazer Slocum, Jr. and Deborah Smith (paternal gr.son of Eleazer Slocum, Sr. and Eliphal Fitzgerald and maternal gr.son of Deliverance Smith and Mary Tripp), b. of record at Dartmouth, Mass. Aug. 4, 1717.

On Dec. 21, 1738 at Dartmouth, Mass., John m. Deborah Almy, dau. of Job Almy and Lydia Tillinghast (paternal gr.dau. of William Almy and Deborah Cook and maternal gr.dau. of Joseph Tillinghast and Freelove Stafford), b. of record at Dartmouth, Mass. Dec 5, 1719. They had the following children, b. of record at Dartmouth, Mass.:

• i. Job Slocum, b. Dec. 20, 1739, d. unmarried before Feb. 10, 1815 at Dover Twp., Dutchess County, NY.

• ii. Elizabeth Slocum, b. circa Feb. 8, 1741/2; m. Mar. 31, 1763 under auspices of the Dartmouth Meeting of Friends, Elihu Russell, s. Daniel Russell and Edith Howland, b. of record at Dartmouth, Mass. July 24, 1741. They resided at Dover Twp., Dutchess County, NY.

• iii. Eleazer Slocum, b. May 15, 1744, d. before Dec. 11, 1826 at Northville, Fulton County, NY; m. Mar. 14, 1765 at Dartmouth, Antace Vaill (written as Anstis Voyal in the marriage record), who d. in Aug. 1829 at Otisco Twp., Onondaga County, NY. Ten children of the family.

• iv. John Slocum, b. Oct. 6, 1746, d. before Oct. 1, 1818 at Nashawena Island off the western coast of Martha's Vineyard (Dukes County, MA) and buried at the Friend's burying ground at Dartmouth, Mass.; m. Rhoda Briggs by whom he had nine children.

• v. Fitzgerald Slocum, b. Apr. 10, 1749; d. unmarried at sea on an unstated date.

• vi. Pardon Slocum, b. July 3, 1751; m. Deborah Sprague and resided at Pawling Twp., Dutchess County, NY. Three known children of the family.

• vii. Else (q.v., Elcie, Elsie, not Alice) Slocum, b. Apr. 17, 1753, d. May 17, 1809 at Alburg, Grand Isle, VT; m. before 1774, Michael Deuel, b. circa 1749 at Dartmouth and d. Jan. 12, 1830 at Alburg, VT. Seven known children of the family.

• viii. Ebenezer Slocum, b. Jan. 5, 1756, d. at Russia Twp., Herkimer County, NY; m. 1) Mar. 22, 1778 at Dartmouth, Sarah Wood and 2) at NY to Mehitable Norton. Thirteen children of the family.

• ix. Eliphal Slocum, b. May 21, 1759.

• x. Jonah Slocum, b. June 26, 1761, d. Aug. 16, 1840 at Erie, Penn.; m. 1) Aug. 29, 1782 at Dartmouth, Mary Morell and a second wife in NY. Seven children of the family.

• xi. Deborah Slocum, b. Sept. 2, 1763; m. by intention dated May 14, 1788 at Dartmouth, Philip Howland.

• xii. Restcome Slocum, b. May 1, 1765, d. at Russia Twp., Herkimer County, NY; m. Phebe Allen and had nine children.
