Marlin R. Derr, of Gettysburg, died March 7, 2010.

He was born September 22, 1921, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Russell and Mary Fleck Derr.

For over 40 years he worked at Musselman's Fruit Company as a valued maintenance mechanic retiring in 1985.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater as a navigator in the Navy Air Corp.

Mr. Derr was an active member of Mt. Joy Lutheran Church in Barlow and was a former member of the Barlow Fire Company. He enjoyed playing baseball, and following WWII he played in the South Penn Baseball League, he was also a very good roller-skater. He was an avid vegetable gardener, enjoyed hunting and built his own home.

His wife of 38 years, Shirley Dodrer Derr, died in 1988, and Mr. Derr is survived by a daughter, Patricia Johnson and husband, Randall of Hanover; a son, Ronald Derr of Baltimore; two sisters-in-law, Louise Benner of St. John's, FL, Jean Dodrer of West York; a brother-in-law, John Heiser of Gettysburg; nieces, Nancy Arabinick and husband, John and their daughter, Natalie of Bensalem, Amy Dodrer of Reading, Sharon Heiser Marvon and husband, Gregory L. and their son, Gregory J and wife, Heather and their daughter, Lauren of Gettysburg and their daughter, Mechelle Marvon and her daughter, Alyssa Cool of Gettysburg, and Connie Mack and husband, Tim of Jacksonville, FL; a nephew, Jim Benner and wife, Nancy of Springhill, FL; a grandniece, Kelly Plumley and husband, Adam of Hanover; and two great-grandnieces, Myka Faith Walker and Zoe Jane Luedtke and a fiance, Alta Harris of Hanover.

He was predeceased by a sister, Gladys Heiser; a brother, Vernon Derr; and a brother-in-law, Donald Benner.

Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
