Mrs. Effie DeWees, wife of Clay DeWees, died at their home in the country on Tuesday morning. Her illness dates from July 18th, when the entire family suffered a severe case of ptomaine poisoning, but from this she ralled and while not entirely well, she was able to attend to her regular duties, and on last Friday she was in town, made her usual purchases and visited friends, but on Saturday she was taken suddently ill, and on Monday became unconscious and died early Tuesday morning. The attending physicians decided the cause was a continuance of the result of ptomaine poisoning which produced an acid condition of the blood.

One of the saddest features of this affair is that she leaves a family of five little children.

Mrs. DeWees was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Martin of Brook and was about 22 years of age.

On account of arrival of relatives, the funeral was postponed until Friday afternoon. It will be held in the Christian church at Brook. The family have the sincere sympathy of all in their bereavement.
