DANVILLE -
Mary J. Tanner-Harrison, 77, of Cooper Street in Danville, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at her residence. She was born on July 19, 1932, in Danville, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Helen (Mausteller) Ackley.
Mary worked at the Danville State Hospital in housekeeping for many years.
She was a member of the Pine Street Lutheran Church in Danville.
She is survived by her beloved husband of six years, Sam Harrison; three daughters, Kathleen and her husband Daniel Cook of Snydertown, Linda and her husband Wayne Renn of Sunbury and Carol and her husband Bill Wetzel of Riverside; seven grandchildren, Allen, Michael, Timothy, Shannon, Matthew, Daniel and Adam; 11 great-grandchildren; five step-children, Elizabeth and her husband Tom Buckley of Connecticut, Mary Ann and her husband Terry Nogle of Danville, Janet and her husband Gary Freese of Stonington, Sam and his wife Norma Harrison of Williamsport and Phobe and her husband Phil Davis of Delaware; and two sisters, Caroline Brobst of Catawissa and Esther and her husband Larry Hilscher of Riverside.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband in 2000, Harry Tanner; as well as by two sisters, Martha Hood and Laura Hartman.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Pine Street Lutheran Church, where funeral services will be held at 2 with her pastor, the Rev. Keith Pittsnogle, officiating assisted by the Rev. Dr. David Simon.
Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Danville.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Brady Funeral Home.
