Again death entered the ranks of high school students, this time claiming Gladys Watson, the sixteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Watson. She had taken with the influenza which terminated into pneumonia and died at two o'clock Monday morning. The mother and only other child, a daughter, were also alarmingly ill and all hearts were burdened for the stricken family. Gladys was a member of the sophomore class, a cheerful girl well liked by her associates. On every hand one hears the students saying "with so many gone we dread to return to school." Funeral services were held at the Watson home Tuesday afternoon.

Additional note: Gladys' mother, Josephine, died of influenza on October 11, 1918 and her sister, Mildred, died of influenza on October 15, 1918.
