Annie A. Dewald, 75, of Danville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

She was born on July 1, 1934, in Montour County, a daughter of the late Henry and Hazel (Dyer) Reichenbach.

Annie was a 1951 Danville High School graduate.

She worked for the Danville State Hospital as a secretary for over 33 years until her retirement in 1986. After retiring, she spent the next 20 years caring for numerous children. To them she was known as Grammy.

Many of her favorite memories were camping with her family, her dog Shelley, and going for rides in the mountains with Gerald, the love of her life.

She was a member of Mooresburg Methodist Church as well as a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 265, East End Fire Co., Continental Fire Co, American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary, all of Danville. She was very active in Women of the Moose Chapter 930, receiving their highest degree, The College of Regents.

Annie is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gerald Dewald; a son, Perry and his wife Anne; a daughter, Renee Gearhart and her fiance, Theodore Benza Jr.; three grandchildren, Andria, Dawn and Andrew; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Reichenbach, of Danville; and a sister, Jeanne Godec and her husband Jerry, of Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frankie and Gordie Reichenbach; and four sisters, Ruthie Stigerwalt, Edna Appleman, Betty Bankes and Helen Reichenbach.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Brady Funeral Home, Danville, where funeral services will be held at 11 with the Rev. Dennis Derr, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Danville, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville.


Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Brady Funeral Home.
