Dixie M. Ewert, 81, died Nov. 12 at her residence here. She was born March 12, 1927, at Marionville, Mo., the daughter of Buel and Mattie Bastin Bledsoe. She married Howard D. Ewert on May 10, 1947, in Wichita. He died Jan. 11, 2004. She was a homemaker and had lived in Ferguson since March 2008, coming from Great Bend.

Mrs. Ewert was a member of First United Methodist Church, TOPPS and Wagon Wheel Card Club, all of Great Bend.

Survivors include a son, Mike D. Ewert and wife Aprile of Joplin, Mo.; a daughter, Linda Heitland of Ferguson, Mo.; three grandchildren, Chris Heitland, Jessica Heitland and Hannah Ewert, and three great-grandchildren, Skyler Heitland, Kendyl Heitland and Reilly Dierdag. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Wallace and Buel Bledsoe, Jr., and a sister, Dorothy Giggy.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, with the Rev. Gary Brooks officiant. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the McPherson (Kan.) Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
