Pierre was a patriot of the American Revolutionary War. He was on the payroll of a company of volunteers of Infantry in the service of the State of Virginia, commanded by Capt. Francois Busseron on the 27th of October, 1778 and ending the 17th of December, 1778. His name appears as Pierre Grimare. The name of "Pierre Grimar" also appears on the list of signers of an oath of allegiance to Vincennes.

He was buried in the "Old Cathedral" cemetery at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in Vincennes, Indiana.
Pierre was in Busseron's troops which was part of Col. George Rogers Clarks' Revolutionary Army. Pierre died in 1784 and has a military headstone on his grave. His tombstone is one of ten, 5 on each side of a walkway, in the cemetery where more than 4000 French and Indian troops are said to be buried. His widow, Genevieve, married Jean Baptiste Queret in 1795.
