Betse Walker died at her home after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Graham for 30 years, except for a period of eight years while living at Roswell, New Mexico.

She was the daughter of a pioneer Texas family. Her grandfather, George Hill Mulkey and her great-uncle, Abe Mulkey, was a well-known Methodist evangelist in North Texas.

She graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton.

She married William Brown Walker in 1938.

Betse was well-known for her creative hobbies which she shared unselfishly with many others. From Cub Scout leader to private pilot, she continually enjoyed challenging activities. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survived by her husband; one daughter - Mrs. Perry Maxwell, Jr. of Irving; one son - Jon Walker of Tucson, AZ; her father - George F. Mulkey; her brother - George J. Mulkey; four grandchildren.
