Recitation of the rosary for Sister Ann Marie McNamee will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Provincial House Chapel in Marylhurst. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m., with burial in the Sisters of the Holy Names Convent cemetery.

Sister Ann Marie, also known as Sister M. Robert Francis, died Sunday in a Marylhurst care center. She was 78.

Born in Bakersville, S. D., sister McNamee moved to St. Paul with her family in 1921. She enrolled in business courses in a Portland school and was a window clerk in the school savings department of Portland Trust and Savings Bank from 1929 to 1931.

In 1931, she entered the novitiate of the Sisters of the Holy Names in Marylhurst. She received a bachelor's degree in primary education from Marylhurst College and a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Oregon. From 1933 to 1972, Sister McNamee taught in grade schools staffed by the Sisters of the Holy Names in Portland, Medford, Salem, St. Helens, Lake Oswego and Seattle.

She also served as supervisor of Blessed Martin Day Nursery in Portland. Sister McNamee was both superior and principal in St. Frederic's Grade School in St. Helens. From 1972 to 1981, she taught religious education in the parish ministry at St. Peter's Catholic Church and St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Portland and St. Pius X Catholic Church in Cedar Mill. From 1981 to 1987, Sister McNamee was pastoral minister for the Church of the Resurrection on the Marylhurst campus.

Survivors include three brothers, Bernard of Irrigon, Daniel of Springfield and Francis of Antelope; and six sisters, Sister Eileen and Sister Una, both of sisters of the Holy Names in Marylhurst, Margaret Bell of West Linn, Mary Kerrigan of Milwaukie, Kathleen DePaolo of Milwaukie and Roberta Greiner of Condon.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Sisters of the Holy Names Retirement Fund.
