GREAT FALLS —Margaret Elaine (Lindstrand) Dyche, 97, of Great Falls, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2017 in Great Falls.
Margaret was born February 28, 1920 to Ernest and Irene Berglund, each who filed homesteads in Box Elder, Montana, married and moved their young family to Heath, Montana in 1925. In 1932, they bought the Elk Creek Ranch south of Grass Range, Montana. Margaret attended a one room school house in Heath and graduated from Fergus County High School in 1937. Margaret worked in the courthouse in Lewistown after graduation and married Harry Lindstrand, also from Grass Range, in 1939. They had one son and their years as a family were lived mostly in Great Falls.
After retirement from the county superintendent of schools district office in Great Falls, Margaret worked as a licensed realtor in Great Falls and Monarch, Montana. She married Luke Dyche in 1976 and they had many wonderful years together traveling to London, Scotland, Hawaii, and Mexico, spending winters in Coronado, California and weekends at the cabin in Monarch.
In retirement, Margaret led a busy life, attending over 25 Elderhostels, was an avid golfer, skier, bridge player, square dancer and volunteered many years at the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center. Many great times were spent with family and friends at the cabin on Belt Creek in Monarch that Margaret owned for 30 years.
She was a true Montana gal in spirit and values who loved to be outdoors rather than in and talked much about her time on her Mom and Dad's ranch. Sledding and skiing by moonlight, working in the fields, herding the cows, raising baby beef and going to dances until the sun came up. She lived 97 years to the fullest and was a friend, daughter, wife, sister, daughter-in-law, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margaret is preceded in death by her two dear husbands, Harold Lindstrand and Luke Dyche; son Robert Lindstrand; her beloved parents; and 7 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her 2 granddaughters, 3 great-grandsons, a stepson, a daughter-in-law, and many Berglund and Lindstrand nieces and nephews.
