Francis Marion Cobb, eighty-nine years of age, one of the very few remaining Civil War verterans of Hamilton co, died at his home in Sheridan at 8 o'clock Friday morning. The funeral will be held in Antioch church Sunday. Internment will take place in the Jones Cemetery.

Mr. Cobb is survived by the following children: Willis and Thomas Cobb, of Sheridan; Mrs. Julia Rollings, also of Sheridan, and Mrs. Emma Lemon, of Indianapolis. His wife preceded him in death.

Mr. Cobb was born in Lexington, Kentucky and was one of a family of twelve children. Mr. Cobb first enlisted in the 10th Kentucky Calvary during the Civil War and served three months before being examined and released because of his age. He again enlisted in 1863 in the 54th Kentucky Mounted Calvary and was made a messenger boy for Gen. Thomas. He was captured twice and supposedly being of his being so young and small, his messages were taken from him and he was released.

Mr. Cobb first came to Indiana in 1867, settling near Fortville, but has been a resident of the Sheridan community for many years, farming about all his life since being released from the army
