He grow to manhood on the farm with his parents. He spent the summer of 1916 near Philips, S.D. He entered the service of his country May 13, 1918. He served in the 7th Div., Co. C., 21st Machine Gun Bn. was a company of regulars. Was in training a short time at Waco, Texas. In August left for France. He was in active service weeks before the Armistrice. Saw active service in St. Mihiel and Argonne as a machine gunner. Was mustered out of the service Camp, Dodge, Iowa in July 1919. In Febr. of 1920 he went to Paradox Valley, Colo. where he worked as freight agent until winter. From Colorado, he went to Redondo Beach, Calif. where he was employed by the Edison
Co. He returned to Iowa July 1921.
He resides on a farm Atlantic, Iowa.
