Priscilla Ann was born on 24 May 1834 in Gloucester, NJ; the oldest child of Jacob S Bendler and the only child of his first wife Ann "Elizabeth" Wolohon. The Bendler family is said to be of German descent. On the paternal side, Priscilla's grandparents were Adam and Ruth Ann Bendler. On the maternal side, by presumptive evidence, Priscilla's grandparents were John and Priscilla (Mulluck) Wolohon, and her great grandparents were John and Sarah (Hammitt) Wolohon. Unfortunately Priscilla would only receive the benefit of her mother's nurturing for a brief 10 months. A year after her mother's death, Priscilla's father married her aunt Susan Wolohon. To this union Priscilla's half-siblings Eliza and Henry Clay Bendler were born. When Priscilla was 12 years old, her father married his 3rd wife, Mary Sickler. Jacob and Mary had 3 children: Hiram H., Clara, and Ruth Ann Bendler.

On 26 Oct 1852, at the age of 18, Priscilla married Edward Waterman Cooper in Washington Township, NJ. Life-partners for over 50 years, the couple had 8 children together, with 7 known:

John L.Cooper
Edward Forest Cooper
Laura Cooper
George Cooper
Charles Herbert Cooper
Ada Cooper
Fredrick Cooper

In 1860 Priscilla and Edward are found living in Gloucester, Camden, NJ with their oldest 2 sons: at that time Edward was employed as Mill Wright. The Coopers remained in New Jersey until after the birth of their youngest daughter Ada, but thereafter moved quite frequently: Cople, Westmoreland, VI (1870), New Jersey (1873), Philadelphia, PA (1880), and Wilmington, NC. Between 1900 and 1904 the couple located in Philadelphia, and here Priscilla continued residency after her husband's death (1904) until her own death on April 8, 1913.
