Mr. Fairchild was born February 11,1912, in Johnson County,the son of the late Lawrence and Ollie McKenzie Fairchild.
He was retired from U.S. Steel and a member of the United Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife; Vicie Estep Fairchild;five sons, Gary Hubert Jr. and Sherren,all of Oil Springs,Paul of Canal Winchester, Ohio,and Bob of Round Rock, Texas; two sisters, Moncie Williams of Tulsa,Oklahoma; and Maggie Smith of Charlestown, Indiana; and 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 3, at Paintsville FuneralHome Chapel, with Elders Phillip Caudill, and Wayne Blair and Revs.Paris McCarty Jr.,and Charles Gearhart officiating.
Burial was in Fairchild Cemetery at Oil Springs. Paintsville Herald Oct.09 1996
