MILTON -
Margaret C. "Peg" Derr, 91, of Milton passed away on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at the home of her granddaughter.
Born in Pottsgrove on Sept. 27, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Reese and Bessie (Prowant) Fetzer. On Jan. 11, 1936, she married John J. Derr who preceded her in death.
Peg was a mother to everyone and an excellent storyteller. She worked as a seamstress from the time she was 13 years old until her retirement in 1972.
Peg was an avid bowler and a member of the Milton Bowling Hall of Fame.
She enjoyed bingo and was a member of the Misfits.
She was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Milton.
She is survived by three brothers, Harvey, Harold, and Thomas Fetzer, all of Milton; two sisters, Ida Mae Milheim of Muncy and Tressie Hilkert of Washingtonville; three granddaughters and two grandsons-in-law, Tracy Fetzer, Peggy and Gary Fullmer, and Donna and James Spear, all of Milton; six great-grandchildren Jason Fetzer of Chambersburg, Travis Fetzer, Melissa Musser, Gretchen Fullmer, Rachael Spear, and Julia Spear, all of Milton.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and George Loreman; two brothers, Howard and Elmer Fetzer; and one sister, Emma Jane Smith.
Friends and relatives will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Shaw Funeral Home, Milton. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1125 Mahoning St., Milton, with Pastor Pat Pittsnoggle officiating.
Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery in New Columbia.
