“Funeral service for William G. Marshall, 75, retired railroad employee, who died at his home in Veedersburg, Wednesday, June 3, were held at one o’clock Friday afternoon at the residence. The Rev. Samuel Jones officiating, with continued services at the Kingman U.B. Church, the Rev. J.H. McHargue in charge. Burial was made in the Harveysburg cemetery near Kingman.

Mr. Marshall was born in North Carolina, February 9, 1861, the son of Joseph and Nancy Marshall, and came to Fountain County with his parents when a small child. Most of his life since reaching maturity has been spent as section foreman for railroads and he was but a few months since retired from services of the Chicago, Attica and Southern.

He was married to Emma Bales and after her death to Lily Sowers, who survives. Four sons, Joseph, Village Grove; Frank Pine Village and Earl and Densel, Veedersburg; two daughters, Mrs. Vida Merrill, Veedersburg; and Mrs. Isil Richardson, Charleston, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Dell Gillum, Kingman, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, also survive.

He was a member of the United Brethren Church.” – June 11, 1936
