Frederick "Fred" Bellesheim, 71, of Danbury, Conn., and Westerly, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008, at The Westerly Hospital. He was the husband of Marilyn (Werner) Vacca Bellesheim.
Fred was born on July 18, 1937, in Danbury, a son of Frederick Julius Bellesheim and Helen Gould Finnegan Bellesheim. He graduated from Bethel High School in 1955. He enlisted in the United States Marines Corp., serving from 1955 through 1958.
He graduated from Norwalk Technical College with an AD in engineering and worked for Lessona, Bard-Parker and Amphenol corporations. He was a past president of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
Mr. Bellesheim married the late Caroline Hooper on Sept. 3, 1960. He married Marilyn (Werner) Vacca on Aug. 4, 2007.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by sons, Frederick J. Bellesheim of North Haven, CT, and Noel T. Bellesheim (Laurie) of Southbury, CT, and daughter, Heather L. Melody (Douglas) of Danbury, CT. He also leaves six grandchildren, Michael, Lily and Caitlyn of Southbury; and Rachel, Lauren and, Andrew of Danbury. He also leaves a step-daughter, Darcie TeVault (Eric) and Connor and Cason, of Winston-Salem, N.C.
In addition, Mr. Bellesheim is survived by his brother, Richard T. Bellesheim (Marjorie Jean); sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Speglevin (Benjamin), and Marcia Fyfe (Jack). He also leaves several nieces and nephews and many friends, both in Danbury and Misquamicut and his Labrador retriever, Cinnamon Rain.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 15 East Beach Road, Charlestown, RI Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m.
A service will also be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 174 Whisconier Road, Brookfield, CT, Sunday, Aug. 3, 2008, at 2 p.m.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the Westerly Police Department, the Charlestown Ambulance Service and the caring doctors and medical staff of The Westerly Hospital, in addition to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Westerly Chamber Foundation, Auto External Defibrillator Fund, c/o Westerly Chamber of Commerce, 1 Chamber Way, Westerly, RI 02891.
