Son of Richard E. Prendergast and Bertha Roe Prendergast. Husband of Hazel C. Dewey Prendergast. Richard, who resided in Wyoming, Delaware, served as a Chief Water Tender with the U.S.S. Drexler, U.S. Navy during World War II. He was "Killed In Action" when the Drexler was struck by two Japanese Kamikazes and sunk in the South Pacific. He had served in the Navy for four years at the time of his death and was decorated with a Distinguished Service Medal and the Purple Heart.
