William T. Poole, a native and long-time resident of the District, died Tuesday in Norwalk, Calif. He was 79.
Mr. Poole was employed by the General Accounting Office here when he retired and went to California seven years ago.
During World War II, Mr. Poole applied for, and received, an Army commission at the age of 60. He was in Army Intelligence, and served in the North African campaign.
He is survived by five children, a brother, a sister, and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held in Long Beach, Calif., Sunday, with interment early next week in Arlington Cemetery.
