Hester Gartman was the daughter of Miles Tunney Gartman and Viola Boothe Gartman. She was my Grandma Mamie's baby sister and was known as "Bootsie".

She was married to Herman Brooks. They had one daughter named Brenda.

Bootsie was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was not supposed to get pregnant again. However, she did become pregnant. I am not sure all of the details but I do know that either she had complications with either her pregnancy or the tuberculosis and go to the hospital. When the doctors saw that Bootsie could not be saved, they tried to save the unborn baby but apparently she was not as advanced in the pregnancy as they had initially believed, and the baby died as well. They are both buried together in the same grave.

My Grandma thought the world of her and was always talking about how pretty she was. Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of her to add to this memorial but welcome any that anyone else may have to add.
