Pleasant was the 4th of 8 children born to General Howell Franklin (1858-1935) and Amanda McCraw (1864-1945). He married Laura Irene Evans (1893-1981) on 23 Sep 1910 in Knox County, Indiana.

Funeral services for Pleasant Dolph Franklin, 84, of Decatur, brother of Ray Franklin of Blue Mound, will be held in Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home at Decatur with burial to follow in North Fork Cemetery.

Mr. Franklin died at 7:45 o'clock Saturday morning in St. Mary's Hospital at Decatur. He was born in Clay County a son of General and Mrs. Amanda Crawford Franklin, and was married to Laura I. Evans on September 23, 1910. He was a member of the Central Christian Church of Decatur and was employed at A. E. Staley Manufacturing Company of Decatur until his retirement in 1954.

Surviving, in addition to his brother are his widow; two sons, Harold of Clearwater, Fla. and Donald of Houston, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude McCullom, Louisville; Mrs. Lucille Gant, Decatur; and Mrs. Hazel Chambers, Springfield; two grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
