m1: Mr. Templeton

1. Jane Ann b: 10 OCT 1840 in West Virginia (m: Ephraim L. Goff)
2. Edward abt 1842

Mary's husband died soon after Edward's birth. She remarried to Gipson R. Powell abt 1844; the family moved to Henry Co MO. about 1852.

m2: Gipson R. Powell, W.VA
ch inc:
-Richard abt 1845-
-Edwin abt 1847-
-Mary Hellen abt 1850-
-Willie Edna abt 1842/WV
-Charles E. abt 1855/MO-
-George E. abt 1858-
-Fannie /Frances abt 1862-

1850 Putnam VA: POWELL Gipson R/33, Mary/28, Jane A/10*, Edward/8*, Richard/5, Edwin/3, Hellen/0. {*Altho shown as POWELL, Jane A and Edward surnames were TEMPLETON, Gipson's stepchildren}

1860 Henry Co MO: POWELL Gipson R/44/VA, Mary A/41/WV, Richard/14, Mary H/10, Willis/8, Charles E/5, George E/2

1870 Grand River, Henry MO: POWEL Gibson R/53, Mary/51, Richard/24, Helen/20, Willie/18, Charles/15, George/13, Fannie/8.
Note: Next door is Mary's dau from first marriage, Jane and Ephraim GOFF.

After Mary's death, Gipson remarried to Jennie unk., and is in Deer Creek, Henry MO. in 1880 with daus Fannie and Helen (who is divorced with a dau Jessie).

Note: DOB from marker; based on 1850-1870 census, her DOB would be 1819-1822. If 1828 is correct, Mary would have been about 12 yrs old when her first child was born in 1840 (assuming that date is also correct). It is suspected her birth year on marker is incorrect.

Besides the census records, source includes the death cert. of Mary's oldest child, Jane Ann (Templeton) Goff, which states her father was unknown Templeton and mother's maiden name was Mary Coleman. Also, Jane's obit indicates that her widowed mother married G. R. Powell, and they moved to Henry Co. when Jane was about 12 yrs.

Thanks to Linda for suggesting the DOB is in question.
