Original spelling and capitalization intact.[Editor's Note: Bracketed text is missing from the original will due to crumbling of the original paper, but text from the willbook copy is included for ease of reading.]Last Will and Testament of John HarmanIn the Name of God Amen John Harman of Guilford Township in the County of Franklin and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania yeoman being weak in body but of sound disposing mind memory and understanding thanks be to god for the same, and calling to mind the mortality of life and that it is appointed for all men to die, Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament in manner following (to wit) My will is and I do order and direct that all my just debts and funeral expences be paid by my Executors herein after named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and as touching my worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased the Lord to Bless me with in this world I give and dispose of in manner following (to wit).My will is and I give and Bequeath to my Beloved wife Christina during her natural life the Eastern half of my Dwelling house, and twenty feet square of my Garden also as much of my household and Kitchen furniture as she may require and one cow, my will is and I order and Direct that my three sons namely Adam, Peter & John deliver yearly and every year to my wife Christina jointly ten Bushels of Wheat [Six bushels of Rye, six] Bushels of Indian corn two Barrels of Cyder six pounds of Flax eighty pounds of Pork forty five pounds of Beef and six pounds in good & Lawfull money of Pennsylvania, The wood to be ready cut and delivered at her Doore the Cow to be jointly kept in foder and to be kept in the small stable on the Plantation hereafter Bequeathed to my son John and to be fed and milk'd by my son John & family. I also give her the Choise of four aple Trees yearly during her Life on the afd. Plantation my will further is that my three sons afd. Deliver to my wife aforesd. yearly as many Potatoes & Turnips as she may require for her use -- and my will is that all the outstanding Debts is to be for the use of my wife Christina.Item my will is and I give and Bequeath to my son Adam Harmon his heirs and assigns forever the plantation whereon he now lives (Subject to the Bequests made, and hereafter to be made) Adjoining Land of Edward Crawford Esq., Peter Snider, Peter Harmon & others Containing two hundred and Twenty Acres; Item my will is and I give and Bequeath to my son Peter Harmon his heirs and assigns forever the plantation whereon he now Lives (Subject to the Bequests made and hereafter to be made) adjoining Lands of Edward Parker, Adam George & John Harmon plantation hereafter Bequeathed Containing two hundred & Twenty acres; Item I give and Bequeath to my son John Harmon his heirs and assigns the plantation whereon him and me now live (Subject to the Bequests made and hereafter to be made) Adjoining Lands of Peter Harmon aforesd., Anthony Snider, Adam Stump & Clark Containing two hundred and Twenty Acres (Agreeable to the Survey made by the Surveyor of the Difrent Tracts of Land according to which I allow each of my sons to Enjoy and hold the same. It is my will that my son John Harmon is not to stop or hinder my other two sons from the privilidge of the Water or to turn it from them, which is running through his Lands but the[y] are to Enjoy an equal privilidge of the same for their use to them and their heirs and assigns forever, further my will is that the midle fence between my son Peter & John at the meadows is jointly to be kept up, and my will is that my son Peter is to be allowed a Road Through Adams Lands to go round the present field of Adams to the great Road.Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter Susanna Intermarried to Simon Shunk the sum of Two hundred pounds and to my Daughter Anna Mariah Intermarried to Adam Cook the Sum of two hundred pounds, and to my Daughter Magdalena Intermarried formerly to ____ C[oon] the sum of Two hundred pounds, and to my Daughter Catharine Intermarried to Baltzer Coons the sum of two hundred pounds, and to my Daughter Christina Intermarried to Henry Stemple the sum of Two hundred pounds, all which several sums of money to be in Gold or Silver Lawful money of Pennsylvania to be paid by my three sons to wit Adam, Peter & John. It is my will and I order and direct that my son Adam pay the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds out of his Plantation towards the afd. Legacies, and my son Peter to pay the sum of two hundred and twenty five pounds out of the plantation Bequeathed him toward the Legacies, and my son John to pay the sum of three hundred and seventy five pounds out of the plantation Bequeathed him toward the Legacies, and my will is and I order and direct that one year after my decease that my three sons afd. Adam, Peter and John, pay the sum of one hundred and Twenty five pounds to my five Daughters aforesd. for each to pay in proportion to their several farms which each of them have to pay, and from thence yearly the sum of one hundred and Twenty five pounds until the afd.
