Joy, the daughter of George Edward Booth and Maud Mallard Dorris, grows up in Texas. On 2 Sep 1926 she marries Harvey Lee Minyard. Joy and Harvey have the following children: Joy Lee and Ina Fay.

Harvey dies 21 Dec 1956. Joy then marries Allie Hyatt who dies in 1964.

According to her obit Joy dies at age 86 from injuries received in an auto accident in Arlington. She was a homemaker living in Ranger at the time of her death. Joy is noted as having enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Joy's funeral was at the First Baptist Church in Ranger, where she was a member. Her burial is noted as being in New Gordon Cemetery in Gordon with Edwards Funeral Home in Ranger in charge of arrangements.

The obit lists the following survivors: two daughters, Joy Lee Reasoner of Arlington and Ina Fay McGinnis of Troy; brother, Roy Booth of El Paso; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
