A native of Atlanta, Hank was a 1971 graduate of W.F. Dykes High School. He was a four-year baseball letterman at University of South Carolina where they were finalists in the 1975 College World Series.
Hank was drafted by the Atlanta Braves and played with the organization for five years.
An avid sports fan, Mr. Small continued to stay involved with baseball throughout his life, coaching youth through collegiate levels. Hank had a great sense of humor and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by two daughters, Caroline Lindsay Small of Greenville, SC and Chelsea Rebecca Small of Boone, NC; mother, Barbara Sheffield Small of Atlanta; brothers, David Sheffield Small of Atlanta, James Martin Small of Pensacola, FL, Christopher Bruce Small of Crestview, FL; and fiancée; Jenifer Strauss of Griffin, GA.
Interment was in Arlington Memorial Park, Sandy Springs, GA.
