E. Vance Homan, 81, Rt. 2, Staunton, died early Friday morning (Aug. 27, 1971) in King's Daughters' Hospital following an illness of three years. He was a retired farmer and a former employee of Augusta Dairies, Inc.

He was born Feb. 9, 1890 in Augusta County, a son of Charles E. and Mary Catherine (Ross) Homan. Mr. Homan was a member of the Mint Spring United Methodist Church and was a member of the Mint Spring Raritan Club, having a perfect attendance record since the club was chartered.

Surviving are his widow by second marriage, Mrs. Mary Bell (Bosserman) Homan; one son, Charles E. Homan of Staunton; two daughters, Mrs. Phyllis H. Royer of Waynesboro and Miss Elaine M. Homan of Rt. 2, Staunton; one brother, Paul R. Homan of Mt. Solon; two sisters, Mrs. Virgie H. Arney of Staunton and Mrs. Una B. Bloom of Waynesboro; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

His first wife, Mrs. Freda (Winegard) Homan, died Sept. 2, 1933.

A service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Mint Spring United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Harry C. Rickard. Burial will be in Thornrose Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Richard Coffey, Owen Thomas, III, Harry A. Harmon, Jr., William H. Ballew, Marshall M. Glenn and Allen W. Quick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Sweet, Walter Schwab, R. Wallace Rosen, John T. Moomau, Dr. H. Lynn Moore, Harry W. Swortzel, Fred Harmon, Roller F. Lucas, H. R. Fauber, L. J. Brown, Herman S. Reed, Cecil Layman Jr., Marnie and Walter C. Berry, W. B. Armstrong, Cecil B. and Harry Campbell, Walter and Paul Glenn, Garland Anderson, Harry P. Walters, R. Murray and Edward Ballew, Robert H. Bosserman, Charles Mowry, Glenn Shickel, R. T. Wright, Lusby Reese, Sam Barger, Wilson C. Coffey, H. Wilson Smith, E. P. Coiner and Leonard Shaw and members of the Mint Spring Ruritan club and men of Mint Spring United Methodist Church.

The body is at the Homan residence. Pallbearers are requested to assemble at the church at 2:45 p.m. Monday.
